Operation Epic Fury Timeline

Home > Events > OPEF > Timeline

Operation Epic Fury began on Saturday, February 28, 2026, with a U.S.-Israel joint multi-domain offensive against Iran to destroy its missile, drone, and nuclear infrastructure. The mission saw rapid success in establishing air superiority, degrading Iran's air force, destroying Iran's navy, disruption of Iran's defense industry, and limiting Iran's ability to attack neighbors with missiles and drones.

As of Friday, July 17, 2026, the CENTCOM has attacked various military targets in Iran for seven consecutive days. Iran continues to target U.S. military installatins in several middle east nations. The latest was in Saudi Arabia. In addition, Iran has launched many attacks against Kurdish positions in northern Iraq.

Over the past several days CENTCOM has continued to attack military targets located in Iran. Of course, Iran is launching drone and missile attacks against shipping transiting the 'southern route', military naval vessels, as well as U.S. military installations located in several mideast nations. The MoU appears to be 'dead in the water' and traffic in the Strait of Hormuz is at a very low level due to Iran's attacks on shipping and the renewed naval blockade by the U.S. of vessels going to or departing Iranian ports.

In another statement, CENTCOM announced it disabled a non-compliant unladen oil tanker attempting to sail to Kharg Island. A U.S. aircraft disabled the vessel after firing hellfire missiles into the ship's smokestack. The ship is no longer transiting to Iran.

The Joint Maritime Information Center (JMIC) issued an advisory note on July 12, 2026, stating that the U.S. established southern transit corridor through Omani waters remains open and available to all commercial traffic. However, it says the threat level remains "severe". www.ukmto.org

On Saturday night, July 11, Iran attacked the M/V GFS Galaxy, a large container ship, saying that it was using an 'unauthorized route'. The U.S. responded with attacks on Iran military targets in multiple locations, the third round of attacks on Iran this week. Targets included air surveillance radars, missile and drone storage, missile and drone launch sites, surface surveillance radars, and surface to air missile launchers.

July 10, 2026

Vessel traffic throught the Strait of Hormuz has declined due to the recent attacks by Iran on commercial shipping. President Trump says that the ceasefire is "over" but he is willing to continue talks with Iran.

Iran launched 10 ballistic missiles on July 10, targeting a U.S. command and control center in at Jordan's al-Azraq Air Base.

July 8, 2026

The Memoradum of Understanding (MoU) between the United States and Iran may be in jeopardy. President Trump indicated on July 8, 2026, while attending the NATO Summit in Ankara, Turkey, that it may be "over". The Iranians have said as much as well, indicating that they will close the Strait of Hormuz once again to any vessel traffic that is not approved by Iran.

CENTCOM struck more Iranian targets on Wednesdsay, July 8th. Administration sources indicated that it would exceed the number hit on Tuesday.

July 7, 2026

Iran's IRGC attacked three commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz on Monday night that were using the U.S.-backed southern Omani corridor. Over 40 IRGC patrol boats are patrolling the strait. There are indications that ships that were using the southern route are now traveling through the Iran-designated route.

The U.S. has responded to the Iranian attacks on commercial ships with a significant series of airstrikes on Iranian targets along Iran's coastline and on Qeshm Island. Explosions are being reported in several provinces of Southern Iran. For more on the U.S. strikes on July 7, 2026, read "CENTCOM Launches Retaliatory Attack on Iran", SOF News, July 7, 2026.

Iran has attacked U.S. naval vessels in the region as well as the U.S. Fifth Feet Headquarters in Bahrain.

July 6, 2026

Iran has stated that ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz must use the Iran-designated route and coordinate through Channel 16.

July 1, 2026

Vessel traffic through the Strait of Hormuz is about 1/3 of the pre-war average of about 100 a day. Oman supports a 'service fee' for vessels transiting the SoH; payable to Iran and Oman.
