History
SEALs. On January 1, 1962, the first SEAL teams were established by President Kennedy. The OSS Maritime Unit was the precursor to the SEALs. Learn more in the book First SEALs. https://bookshop.org/a/753/9780306824142
UDTs. In September 1952, the Underwater Demolition Teams (UDT) underwent a redesignation. UDTs 1, 3, and 5 transitioned to UDTs 11, 12, and 13 respectively. UDTs 2 and 4 became UDTS 21 and 22. Following personnel shortages, UDT 13 was decommissioned with its members integrated into UDTs 11, and 12. Additionally, UDT 22 was decommissioned. The odd number prefix denoted Pacific Fleet Units, while even numbers signified those in the Atlantic.
